Yosemite National Park Fishing - Fishing Regulations

While Yosemite fishing licenses are available for purchase within the national park, it is a good practice to purchase your ticket prior to arriving in Yosemite National Park. However, once there, you may want to go in anyway just to refresh your memory on the Yosemite fishing guidelines and regulation rules. Below is a basic list of Yosemite fishing rules.

1. No live or dead minnows or other bait fish, amphibians, non-preserved fish eggs, or roe may be used or possessed.
2. Fishing from bridges and docks is prohibited.
3. In Yosemite Valley and El Portal (Happy Isles to Foresta Bridge):
1. Rainbow trout are catch-and-release only.
2. Brown trout limit is five per day or ten in possession.
3. Only artificial lures or flies with barbless hooks may be used; bait fishing is prohibited.

Anyone over the age of 16 years old must have a valid Yosemite fishing license in order to fish legally.
